The Haliburton Highlands Water Trails is truly a unique and beautiful place to explore. Home to 26,500 hectares of backcountry, this waterway encompasses a mix of dense forests and over 60 lakes with numerous canoe route possibilities!
 
Now that fall has arrived and the leaves have begun to fall, there is no better reason to get out on the water and see the fall foliage like you have never seen before. Paddling on the water opts for the perfect day trip, pack a picnic and your camera and make your way along one of the many trails and waterways!

All trips start from one of the 11 access points at the Frost Centre Area. Choose from either a loop or a specific route depending on your duration and difficulty. Or create your own route and start exploring! Perfect for novice canoeists, families and groups, make a weekend trip and spend the night camping on one of the many campsites or end your day trip with a fire by the lake! 
 
The fall colours are said to be in peak season from September 21st continuing into October however, right now Haiburton is seeing only 20 per cent change in colours so that leaves you ample time to plan your trip! You can see the full fall colours progression report here!
