With fall here in full force and the holiday season on the horizon, there’s no time like the present to start sprucing up your home. While summer projects can mean long days spent toiling in hot weather, fall upgrades you can keep your cool and look forward to the promise of a house that’s close to perfect by the time you’re hosting holiday guests. Before you start putting off plans to improve your house for another year, check out these easy ways to spruce up your home this season:

Paint the walls: One of the easiest, most inexpensive ways to completely change the look and feel of your home is to crack open a can of paint. Whether you’re working with freshly-installed drywall or ancient plaster, a coat or two of paint can make over any space in just a few hours. For your best bet, opt for VOC-free paint and keep the windows open.

Install decorative molding: If you want to take your home from ho-hum to high art, the easiest way to achieve that goal is with moldings. Measure your doors, windows, or ceilings and have some moldings pre-cut at your local hardware store. Once you’ve installed them with a few nails and added some paint, you’ll have an instantly elegant upgrade.

Add a tin ceiling: The charm of tin ceilings can work in virtually any type of home, whether you’re living in stately Victorian or sprawling farmhouse. Luckily, it’s also an easy upgrade to add; first measure your ceilings, cut some tin tile to fit, and use a fast-drying epoxy to secure them to the ceiling.

Add extra storage: Clutter is one of the biggest enemies of a happy home. Fortunately, there’s an easy solution: storage furniture. From steamer trunks at the foot of the bed to entryway benches with lined baskets underneath to hide your scarves and mittens, a little storage can go a long way when it comes to making your home look put together.

Add window treatments: Get rid of those grimy old blinds and let your windows shine with some new window treatments. Properly installed, a set of roman shades, full drapery panels, or valances can make any room look put together in no time.

You don’t have to have an endless budget to make your home look beautiful this fall. A few easy upgrades around the house will make all the difference in no time.

Last week a handful of our agents had the opportunity to attend the 2017 Luxury Specialist Conference in San Diego, California September 27th – 28th. Held at the Hotel del Coronado, global affiliates from Christie’s International Real Estate came together to network, share ideas and explore best practices and strategies in today’s luxury residential property market.

Reserved exclusively for Christie’s International Real Estate’s exclusive global affiliate network, the conference allowed our agents at Chestnut Park to meet affiliates and agents from all over the world and make key connections with other specialists. Attendees received the prestigious certificate of designation as a 2017 Christie’s International Real Estate Luxury Specialist, as well as a digital signature badge to promote this esteemed title.

This year’s panel including our very own Richard Stewart. Where he explained the effects of foreign buyers on the market. This served as a key takeaway for luxury relators, as many of their clients are foreign or international buyers!

Guest speakers also included Interior Designer Martyn Lawrence Bullard who spoke on trends and what people are looking for in their houses these days.

The event proved to be beneficial for agents. Moving forward, the conference will help with our agent’s real estate business. Agents are looking forward to the benefits of the networking outcome of the conference. They hope to generate referrals on an international level. We look forward to attending more conferences in the future. Overall, the conference was a wonderful experience both personally and professionally.
