Two of our agents in Collingwood, Barb and Ron Picot sponsored a very special and elegant event held this past Saturday (August 11th). Read more about this event below:

The artist who did the artwork behind them is Sarah Hall who flew in from New York for the event and Erica Angus, Executive Director, Theatre Collingwood.  

 

Many people in Collingwood and the surrounding region enjoy the labours of Theatre Collingwood, including the many plays and musical revues that they present during their theatre season, but few of us stop to think how they raise the money to put on such high calibre shows. Theatre Collingwood is a professional not-for-profit theatre company with some of Canada’s top talent performing for them in approximately nine productions each year. Although they are actually a charity, they have to deal with high prices in Collingwood for theatre space, office space, accommodations, and more.  The (approximately) $40 ticket prices would hardly cover their $350,000 annual budget. The reality is that the ticket prices only cover about half of the costs, and the rest must be fundraised. This die-hard group of very hard workers never give up. Many community businesses and individuals answer their call and generously support the fine work the company does. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Two such philanthropic individuals are Dr. Brian McCrindle and Kerry Mader, who donated their home at Sunset Point and hosted this special cocktail party in support of Theatre Collingwood!

 

 

 

 

 

 

Imagine an event where from beginning to end it is so obvious that every element has been intricately thought out.  Where every detail in the environment encourages the participants to want to engage in conversation. Where the very location whispers to a time gone by on Georgian Bay. Where guests are welcomed and encouraged to walk around the house and enjoy the vast collection of modern and eclectic art and décor, while docents can be found in each room to answer any questions and hear delightful music that arouses the spirit. Where each morsel of food has been carefully chosen to partner with delicious libations.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Imagine and envision “CURATED!”

 

This very special event was held in the gallery-inspired home on Saturday.  The event is also sponsored by Ron and Barb Picot, Sales Representatives at Chestnut Park Real Estate Limited, Brokerage in Collingwood, and all proceeds will go to support the work of Theatre Collingwood.

 

 

 

 

 

 

“I am very excited and grateful to Brian and Kerry for this opportunity.  We are also thrilled to have musical guests to entertain throughout the evening in addition to incredible art to enjoy, and outstanding food and beverages.  Many surprises are planned, and we know that guests will never forget this special evening in this very special home”, said Erica Angus, Executive Director for Theatre Collingwood.

 

 

Tickets for this event were sold for $250 each, and each came with a $125 tax receipt. Each purchaser not only had an unforgettable evening, but they have greatly supported a very important part of the Collingwood arts & culture tapestry.
