This weekend is the annual home tour in one of our areas of service, Port Hope! Restoration + Renovation = Renewal is the equation for the 53rd house tour in Port Hope! We may be biased, but Port Hope is truly a beautiful city with many lovely homes. If you are looking for something to do tomorrow (Saturday), we recommend making your way to Port Hope.

Each of the eight sites has been lovingly renewed; some restored to the characteristics of the period in which they were built, while others renovated with an unconventional or contemporary twist. Each is unique in its own right, maintaining specific features of the original dwelling. Travel west on Lakeshore Road to three country locations then visit the loft, offices and homes featured in town. Some of these places have remarkable history and in certain cases have never been featured on the tour.

The event is an annual fundraiser with funds raised distributed to assist with heritage building restoration and preservation efforts in the local area. In addition, the funds are used to provide a scholarship to a student in one of the heritage trades at the post-secondary level.

Tickets are $30.00 each and are available at the following locations:

Acanthus Interiors, 46 John St., Port Hope Antiques on Queen, 12 Queen St., Port Hope Furby House Books, 65 Walton St., Port Hope Quinn’s Blooms & Greenery, 277 Division St. Cobourg Johnston’s Greenhouse, 871 Crawford Dr. For more information, contact Manja Horner by email manjahorner@gmail.com.
