May long weekend is the unofficial kick off to summer and is one that should be spent enjoying the great outdoors! Across Ontario there are firework displays, family events and relaxing getaways. So if you’re not sure of where to spend this long weekend we have highlighted a couple can’t miss events happening in our areas of service.

 
Northern Heat Rib Series
 
 
Toronto
Starting May 18 and lasting all weekend, Toronto will be hosting one of Canada’s largest Rib & Craft Beer Festival tours at Yonge & Dundas Square. Northern Heat Rib Series will feature the best BBQ teams in Canada, live music, and carnival games. Pair your BBQ eats with seven of the top craft brewers from across Ontario at Toronto’s hottest annual summer kick off event! Admission is free and all vendors and talent will be in support of your local businesses.  
 
Summer Kick Off Cruise With AMBUSH!
Thousand Islands
If you have not had the opportunity to make your way over to the Thousand Islands, this May long weekend is your chance. On Saturday May 20th join Canadian country band, Ambush, as they cruise around the Thousand Islands in a three-hour cruise through the islands. The cruise will feature the famous Boldt Castle, panoramic views of the Canadian and American Channels, and a dance floor with an on deck bar to help you dance along to these country favorite’s.
 
Blue Mountain Village
Collingwood
Collingwood is known as Ontario’s family-friendly, four-season getaway destination.  Join the fun in Blue Mountain Village all weekend long where families can celebrate together! There will be live music, kids entertainment, hiking tours and much more! Challenge yourself to Rusty’s famous rib-eating contest and don’t miss the end of the day celebration fireworks!

Downtown Hunstville will host their second annual Craft Brew Festival this May long weekend. Located in Hunstville’s River Mill Park, the festival will showcase some of the best local craft beers as well as top talent from the region. This event will serve as a kick off to the annual tourist and cottage season and will sample some of the best food from local vendors. Be sure to sit and enjoy your beer in front of the beautiful panoramic views of the Muskoka River.
 
Horse-Drawn Tour Of Wellington
Prince Edward County
If you’re looking for a relaxing getaway not too far from Toronto, Prince Edward County is Ontario’s five-start relaxation destination. May long weekend will be known as ‘Welcome Weekend’ in The County. On May 20th and 21st join the historic experience with a Horse-Drawn Guided Tour of Wellington. Choose from two separate routes where you will either learn The County’s history dating back to the early 1800’s, or experience the vineyards as you tour the shores of Lake Ontario and explore the many trails around Wellington Park.
