This Friday is the official kick-off of the 138th Canadian National Exhibition. The Ex 2018 will be filled with the classic carnival fun, but every year there is always new and fun things to explore. Here are a few of the great things to enjoy when visiting the Toronto Exhibition this year.

Outrageous Food Options

The CNE is always the prime spot to find the most outrageous food options, and every single year they manage to outdo themselves. The Food Building at Exhibition Place is home to a massive selection of foods to enjoy while at The Ex, including some wild options like cheese stuffed Doritos, carbon dough pizza, and spaghetti donut balls. If you’re looking for some options that are tamer, Ribfest will be taking place for the entirety of CNE 2018. There will also be a ton of variety with the Food Truck Frenzy and Craft Beer Fest happening August 24-26, as well as the Asian Market happening over the Labour Day long weekend!

Epic Entertainment

The entertainment lineup at The Ex every year is an astonishing sight, and 2018 is no exception. To kick off CNE 2018, this weekend there will be the Warriors’ Day Parade, celebrating the actions of the veterans from World War I for the 96th year as we reach the 100th anniversary of the end of WWI. The classic air show is back for the 69th year over the Labour Day weekend and you do not want to miss this spectacular sight! The CNE is also introducing a new Aerial Acrobatics & Ice Skating Show called Quatro, themed around the Four Elements: water, fire, wind, earth and the dynamic interaction between the four forces of nature. With the limited seating at the show being first-come, first serve, be sure to arrive early to enjoy the show up close!

Fun and Games

Aside from the classic carnival games lining the streets, for the second year in a row, the CNE will be home to the CNE Gaming Garage! The Gaming Garage is the place to play and watch CNEsports, Card Gaming and Pinball Tournaments. Guests can play to win some really cool prizes. This will only be happening from the 24th to 26th, so don’t miss it! If you’re over 19, you can enjoy your fun at the Casino in the Better Living Centre. The Casino features a variety of games including Multi-Action Blackjack, Roulette, WAR, Spanish 21, 3-Card Poker, Omaha Poker and a private air-conditioned Texas Hold em Poker room for you to enjoy, just remember to play responsibly!

Plenty of Kid Friendly Activities

If you are bringing your children to The Ex this year, there is a ton of fun to be had at every square inch of the 260-acre lot. Kids’ World is a CNE classic, with arts and craft studios, pizza making, and maybe a reptile or two! Be sure to also endure in all of the rides at the Kiddie Midway, which will have your children wanting to stay and play all afternoon! There are also plenty of opportunities to interact with friendly animals all around The Ex, whether it is at the SuperDogs daily shows or visiting the Kids AgVenture at The Farm!

Music at the Bandshell

Every night at the Bandshell, you can find some of Toronto’s hottest musical acts performing. From Marianas Trench to Bedouin Soundclash, there is so many great artists to enjoy on a warm summer night, while they still last! The famous Bandshell has been a huge part of The CNE’s long history since it was built over the original bandstand in 1936. This open-air venue is the perfect spot to enjoy some music before the summer is over. Check out the list of all of this summer’s performers here!
